The Ages of Fables

This floral entry by the City of South Pasadena depicts one of Aesop’s familiar fables, “The Hare and the Tortoise”. A winding path at the rear of the float shows the hare asleep under a clump of flowers. The tortoise has already passed his rival and is crossing the finish line. South Pasadena Queen Barbara Wilson and her two princesses, Mercer Hughes and Jill Levinski, are at the front of the float to depict three Grecian maidens reading Aesop’s Fables, surrounded by a blanket of American Beauty roses.
